Illnesses Are No Bueno!

Last week I managed to come down with some super bad type of illness - fever, nausea, tiredness. I was out for 3 and a half days. Went to the doctor, became permanent, etc.

I picked up Pokemon White and therefore, stopped playing Dragon Quest VI. My backlog is never going to be finished! ;_;

On the subject of that, I LOVE Pokemon White. SO much. I hardcore played back in the day - on my shitty game boy pocket/color. It was a really pleasant memory for me. I played and beat Red, Yellow, and Blue and also got Silver and Gold when they came out but they just weren't...the same.

A couple of years back, I picked up Diamond and instantly got hooked again. And then I kept buying. Platinum. SoulSilver. And I stopped.

My husband has played all the ones we have picked up. He LOVES them. He has been excited for Black and White since it first got announced. Me? No interest. Zilch. He preordered them. I insisted I wouldn't want them. The day before, I got all excited. We picked up our preorders.

I haven't been able to put it down. I EVEN brought it to work, sat in my car during the rain and played it on my lunch break. I haven't done something like that in...years.

And then I noticed something. Evan hasn't been playing! :( He's just basically forgotten about it.

I have tried to pique his interest by offering incentives - if he beats Pokemon before the next game he wants comes out, he can get it. ...That's the end of this month. XD So this weekend is spring cleaning + Pokemon~! :D

Today I Love

- having real bud. :D It's been so long...there is no substitute <3
- having Pokemon White and Black and playing that with my husband. Thank you universe for giving me the perfect person!
- actually cleaning the house yesterday.
- seeing shit blooming while I'm driving around.
- crossing another game off my Vidja Game Wishlist - Final Fantasy V advance (complete with box in fantastic condition), guide, less than $30. :D (The game itself normally goes for $35+).

Didn't win the lottery -yet-, but I'm sure it'll happen.

March~

I haven't updated here in a bit. Valentine's Day was awesome. Then work was kicking my ass for a bit.

Good news is: I am permanent as of March 7th! *_* I am almost scared they are going to take it away though since I called out last week for car troubles (hooray alternator belts~!) and then left early yesterday and called in today. I am sick and it sucks so bad. :/

A couple of weekends ago, one of my roommates went to a convention for nerds of some sort in Tennessee. They played D&D and such..so I don't know the name of it, anyways; he came back with strep throat AND the flu. My husband got something that was a mix of his allergies + a cold. I don't know WHAT is up with me - I am taking meds like the day is long - which are shitty because they make me feel pretty out of it. If I don't take them though, my body just feels SO run down and sore. So really, I am picking the lesser of the two evils.

I have to brave it out  alone without my husband today. He's being so awesome - getting his allergy shots because of our cats ( ;_; ) and registering, getting books, etc, at college today. AND working his job on top of just recovering from sickness. I married a crazy awesome guy. <3

There will be MUCH Dragon Quest VI to be had today! I will probably make a post about it later!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope everyone is having a great love filled day! Even if you don't have someone to celebrate with, just enjoy it! <3 candy!

The husband and I aren't doing much, both working today (thankfully both during the day) and then I think I'm gonna come home and make a nice filet with asparagus, carrots, and strawberry tiramisu!!! *_* <3 I was originally going to do cod (since that's what was with most of the stuff we bought for groceries for the week) but c'mon! A nice romantic dinner - I'm doing filet mignon with red wine and balsamic vinegar tonight, with olive oil drizzled asparagus, maple carrots; I think that should work, no? Of course one would pick filet over cod. XD

We usually go out but I'm just so over spending so much money on meals on the go. Maybe I'm finally getting what it's like to be frugal ? Fingers crossed!

I hope my husband likes the card I bought him also. It's just so cute and reminds me of us. <3

What are you guys doing for Valentine's Day?

HUGE Shopping Haul!

We finally got out tax return in! A large portion of it went to paying down debt, another just for buying stuff that we have needed, like tupperware, rice steamer, and lunch boxes!

This is my lunchbox! I love the art style and green is one of my favorite colors! My lunch (leftovers from tonight's dinner) is already packed in the fridge for maximum haste in the morning! Can't wait to take this in to work! I had previously been using leftover kroger bags! :(

This is the one my husband got for himself! I can't wait to pack his lunches since otherwise he eats out a LOT. And yes, there is a Kill Bill Part One lunchbox behind there, but I honestly would feel awkward taking that into work.

I also got some new nail polishes today! Here's my Valentine's Day mani!

Base: Seche Vite, Ridge Filling Basecoat
Base Color: Rose Bowl by Essie
Top Coat = Seche Vite Quick Drying Top coat
Glitter Hearts: Nicole by O.P.I's Love your Life

It was such a pain in the butt to do! Lots of layers, had to use a toothpick to correctly place the hearts in the way I wanted them because they just DID NOT pick up on the brush, etc.

My new purse! I usually indulge in buying myself a new purse/bag every year for my birthday (11/16) but I didn't get to do that last year because we were so poor with me being in between full time jobs. I LOVE this one though. I usually switch between Harajuku Lovers and Chococat and this is one of the best in the HL line so far, I'd say! It's so tiny and cute and I LOVE it! And it was on sale!

Got a new work shirt and a couple of new regular casual wear shirts for myself. I love the shit out of this purple/pink plaid and purple lacey shirt underneath. :D

AND to top it off, I found these Valentine's Day cards today!
The art style is SOOOO adorable. At my last job, I gave out bags of candy with weird valentine's day cards every year. I'm a little hesitant to do it this year because I don't know how well it'll go over. And because these cards are just too frickin' great to get thrown away. I kind of want to keep them and save them for my daughter - there'll be some sort of elementary school Valentine's Day crisis and I will save the day with these. I know it. So they will probably just get candy without the cards! :)

SUCH a productive and long day. Ready to go watch a movie and smoke with my husband before relaxing into bed before the long work week that starts tomorrow.

Sorry this was so picture heavy!

Holy Crap

This method...actually works.

I love glitter nail polishes. They are SO pretty and wear so well....the caveat is when it comes to taking them off.

During Christmas, I made the mistake of buying China Glaze's Party Hearty glitter polish and used it with a white base to sort of emulate those seasonal Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes. <3 MUCH love for those!

 See what I mean!? <3

I finally wore this manicure for 5 days, which is a long time for me, and then decided it had to go. I spent no less than 45 minutes scraping crap off my nails. :/

I recently took advantage of the Zoya 3 free nail polish offer, getting two mattes and this one crazy awesome glitter (Savita, Harlow, and Tiffany, respectively). I hate the mattes. SO much. But Tiffany? Incredible.

Only problem was....glitter.

I tested my thumb to see if it would in fact put up a fight. It did.

I remembered reading online about this weird tin foil method, and tried it out. 10 minutes later, everything was gone perfectly. I'm so happy! This means I can order that neon pink glitter base polish I want now!

I didn't even wrap it like she did...just put the tin foil over the ends.

I think I'm going to Sally's today and going to bring home a couple of polishes. All my clothes have been so very matching the weather and the nail polish I have is almost in that vein too.

And I HIGHLY recommend any of the Zoya products, save for the mattes (but that's more of a personal opinion, really!). I'll be buying more when I'm not broke!

Personal Finance

A big part of what I want to accomplish this year is get better at personal finance.
I used to have a good enough hang on my credit - cue a roller coaster of being employed and then not, plus medical bills, plus moving multiple times and you end up with a mess.
I'm sure I could've avoided it by having an emergency savings account set up but I simply didn't think that far ahead. It's hard when your primary focus is paying your credit cards down. I got pretty close a couple of years back but again, one thing then another, being underemployed...yeah.
So now that I just recently got this really nice job, I plan on pulling my britches up and being an adult about money.
First order on the agenda is getting a debt payment plan down, so I'll be throwing about $500 a month towards that. (Please keep me to this, anyone who reads this!).
So after I get caught up on my missed payments ( :( ) this month with my tax return, I am on track to do that. It should take me roughly 14 months at $500 a month.
Which means no moving out when our current lease is up. :/
But that'll give us more time to save up and start out on the right foot, so I just have to keep telling myself that.
Between now and March, I hope to implement these items as well:
5% per paycheck into an off-site (not a bank we regularly deal with) account that is not touched
Automated payments and having that amount budgeted each week.
Life insurance policies
A full budget planned out that we actually execute
That's a big enough list for starting out, I think. We just really have to buckle down, which is hard, because we really like buying stuff. Not even like decor or TVs, just eating out, little items here and there - a little adds up to a lot.
I also need to get ahead on our chore charts - it's the only way we can keep track of everything that needs to be done. -_-;
My husband is a slob but at least he's helping out now! And I was very lazy about stuff too, so I feel like this year is going to be really hard, but really productive/positive.

Email Post Trial

I can't believe how today is going. Instead of having delicious spaghetti dinner leftovers, I had to eat out on my lunch due to arguing with the local bureaucracy known as the probate court.
The husband and I got married on Dec. 8 with a friend of ours officiating. The court said that that's not good enough, despite state statutes saying ( according to my interpretation) that if the marriage is legal in all other respects, then it constitutes as a legal marriage. The court is so wishy-washy on the phone too - " we're not saying your marriage isn't legal or valid...." to which I replied " if you won't give me a certificate then that's exactly what you are saying!"
It's just so frustrating - the actual day of the wedding was a nightmare from Hell. And now this. I've been telling everyone I was married, filed my taxes as such and then there's this hassle. I might even have to not work one day to take care of it.
Despite her ineptitude, the person I spoke to said the judge IS looking into a solution and will email us those things today. I told her if they didn't, they'd be hearing from me again tomorrow. :3
Sigh. Legal systems are such labyrinths. And I could tell the person really didn't give a shit about me or my situation. Protip as someone who has worked in retail and customer service: if you can't do your job or hate it so much that you want to be an uncaring, condescending jerk, just quit. With the current unemployment rates, I'd say there's someone with a WAY better personality who'd be more than happy to have your job and government benefits.
Is this really what my taxes pay for ?

I had been pretty bummed for a couple of months that the series' latest install on the Wii and Playstation 3 consoles, Tales of Graces, would probably never see a release in the States.

This morning, while chatting about my sadness, my husband stated that the same group who had done a fan translation of Fatal Frame 4 for the Wii was doing one for Tales of Graces, Wii-flavor. I was pretty ecstatic.

Sooo happy~! Now just to beat the Tales of Eternia for PSP I have! :3 EUROPE GOT THE ENGLISH RELEASE! Yoshimi want. ;_;

Rain, Rain...

I kind of miss the seasons of the mid-American state I grew up in. In winter, snow and ice; in summer, crazy hot, with very nice springs and falls.

Georgia isn't like that. Georgia has rainy winters and springs/autumns that last all of two months each, and then there are 2 months of winter, and 6 months of summer. I am sure that's why the cockroaches here are so huge. They have crazy mutated.

Anyways, in winter, it rains, a lot. And it's cold. Today was so gray and gloomy that I am super glad I have an office cubicle where I don't have a window.

The next five days? Rain. Gloom. Grey.

It was SO nice this weekend too.... :/

Gaming might be interesting for me again!
